Membership is open to any person who:
- holds an appropriate qualification in agriculture and/or natural resource management; or
- Has achieved professional status and a position of professional responsibility through a combination of post-secondary education and a minimum of ten years practical experience in agriculture and/or natural resource management.
Any person who is enrolled as an undergraduate in a tertiary course that, when completed would satisfy criteria for membership of AIA, may apply to become a student member.

Any financial Member who has made an outstanding contribution to the Institute shall be eligible for Honorary Life membership of the Institute. Nominations for Honorary Life membership may be recommended to the Board by Divisions or Special Interest Groups.
A person that does not meet full membership requirements but has an interest in the profession.
Full Members and Honorary Life Members shall have the right to hold any office and vote at general meetings of the Institute; allowed to participate in any AIA committees, Divisions and/or Special Interest Groups.
Associate Members and Student Members shall have the right to attend but not vote at any general meeting of the Institute and are not permitted to hold any national position of the Institute. Furthermore such members are allowed to participate in any AIA committees, Divisions and/or SIGs by invitation.
The rights of being a Member are not transferable whether by operation of law or otherwise.
Membership fees cover the period from 1st January to 31st December 2013. All prices are GST inclusive.
